Our new Explore: series is a great way to experience a range of flavours and cup profiles from some of our favourite origins around the world.
Each new release in the Explore: series will focus on a different country or region, and features up to 3 coffees with a variety of flavour notes, so you can experience a wide spectrum of the possibilities which that particular origin has to offer.
We're kicking things off this month in the birth place of coffee and one of our all time favourite origins - Ethiopia.
Breaking down the Explore: Ethiopia set
Each of the 3 coffees in our Explore: Ethiopia set is from a different region in Ethiopia, and they all have something unique and interesting to experience.
They're all natural processed, so you can expect lots of fruity, sweet and light cups, each with their own unique twist.
Coffee #1 - Nguisse Nare
This natural from Sidamo in the Bensa region is juicey and packed with sweet acidity that keeps your mouth watering.
With a light and bright body and notes of purple grapes and blackberries, this is a coffee that lets the acidity shine through.
As it cools, we get more and more of that juiciness from the blackberries and a peachy aroma starts to poke through.
On the V60, we get some hints of florality up front too, which then cools to peach.
Lots of ways to enjoy this one and it's a coffee we recommend playing around with a little.
Coffee #2 - Kossa Geshe
Another natural processed Ethio, this time from the Limmu Kossa District.
This lot from Kossa Geshe is sweet like raw brown sugar, with hints of soft red fruits. We also get notes of honeydew melon that cool into an orange or mandarine style citric acidity too.
This is a great coffee with lots of complexity.
Coffee #3 - Layo Teraga
When we first cupped it, we got big strawberry and cherry notes all the way through this lovely natural from Ethiopia's Guji zone.
With a loooong, lingering finish, it's jammy sweet and stickier mouthfeel is really different to the first two in this months Explore: set.
Brewing on the Aeropress, we get a medium, zippy acidity that almost reminds us of grapefruit at times. And that light strawberry finish that just wants to stick around all day long.
There's a lot going on in this one, and were sure you'll find some interesting flavour notes of your own too!

What's the best way to enjoy the Explore: set?
The Explore: series is all about experiencing the differences that variables like terroir, varietal or processing method can make and how those differences can taste in your cup.
However you normally brew and enjoy your coffee at home is likely the best way for you to enjoy these coffees too.
We do highly recommend though, that you brew all 3 side by side at least once. Side by side comparison tasting like this is a great way to contrast and compare coffees against each other and it can help to really highlight their differences too.
Have fun and happy brewing!
