Owned and operated by Negusse Debela, a coffee entrepreneur withyears of hands-on experience running wet mills across the Uragaregion of Guji, Raro wet mill has quietly become one of the area’s mostcompelling operations since its establishment in 2018. Situated to theeast of Uraga, a territory that has earned growing recognition for itsremarkable cup profiles, Raro benefits from both an exceptional terroirand the deep expertise its owner has accumulated over years of workin the field. Some 674 farmers deliver their hand-picked red cherriesto the mill each season, contributing to an annual output of around800 bags of washed specialty coffee. This year, SNAP Specialty Coffeeinvested in a significant upgrade, lining the mill’s fermentation tankswith ceramic covers, a refinement that has had a direct and measurableimpact on quality, yielding a noticeably cleaner and more vibrant cupin the washed coffees the mill produces.
