Fresh crop Ethiopia has finally landed, and we're kicking things off with this beautiful, complex and exciting lot from the Adorsi washing station in Yirgacheffe.
The Adorsi washing station is well known for its delicate and complex coffees.
This lot from the nearby Aricha village is bringing all the florals, with a lovely sweet tropical fruit aroma.
We find lots of deep purple florals up front, cooling to black tea, and a thick mango sweetness.
We've been playing with this coffee a lot over the last few weeks, and every time we cup it we pick up something different. Some of the scribbles on our cupping forms that didn't make it onto the bag include: jasmine, pineapple, lemon and black tea.

Adorsi Washing Station
The Adorsi washing station is a relatively new, and privately owned washing station in central Yirgacheffe. Owned and established by Mr. Faysel A. Yonis under the Testi coffee company, Adorsi is already making a name for itself with some consistently exceptional washed lots. Their team of 50 year round staff and around 400 seasonal staff are dedicated to helping farmers in the surrounding community to improve the quality of their lots. They then carefully process the cherries, keeping the coffees from each village separate, for added traceability and to be able to produce multiple distinctive lots. The dedicated washing station team encourage farmers to deliver their cherry at peak ripeness. This lot from Aricha village is made up of coffees from 800 tiny, family run farms, with farmers delivering coffee to the station daily. Through a combination of education and incentives such as their Premium Cherry Selection program where they pay premiums to farmers who deliver the ripest cherries, the team at Adorsi washing station encourage local farmers to continue to improve their harvesting processes. This lot is a fantastic example of what a great washed Yirgacheffe should be - complex, floral, and clean with a lovely bright acidity.
